Standing in the Gap
SGGM Intercessor Prayer Team

Comprised of a company of trusted disciples called to confidential, Spirit-led intercession and spiritual warfare on behalf of those who reach out to the ministry in their moment of need.

This effort is fully aligned with the Gospel of Jesus Christ under the covering of Seeking the Glory of God Ministries and the leadership of Tiffany Root, Kirk VandeGuchte, Jason Cortez, and other designated leaders.

PURPOSE / INVITATION

As Seeking the Glory of God Ministries continues to grow in obedience to the Great Commission, we are increasingly aware of the prayer needs being shared with us—some general, others deeply personal, urgent, and private. In this season, the Lord is gently stirring a desire among us to raise up a company of fully committed, trusted disciples who will stand in the gap with focused intercession.

While a clear commitment to confidentiality and spiritual maturity is essential, those who answer this call the freedom to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit in how they pray, intercede, and engage in spiritual warfare on behalf of those who reach out to the ministry.

QUALIFICATIONS

The only qualifications for participating are a sincere desire to glorify Jesus in all things and a commitment to listen and obey.

BIBLICAL SUPPORT

Scripture consistently points to the vital place of mature, faithful intercessors:

  • 1 Timothy 2:1 – “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men.”

  • James 5:16 – “The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.”

  • Colossians 1:9 – “For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you…”

  • Ephesians 6:18 – “praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.”

  • Romans 15:30 – “Now I beg you, brethren, through the Lord Jesus Christ, and through the love of the Spirit, that you strive together with me in prayers to God for me.”

  • 1 Thessalonians 5:17, 25 – “Pray without ceasing… Brethren, pray for us.”

  • Proverbs 11:13 – “A talebearer reveals secrets, but he who is of a faithful spirit conceals a matter.”

  • Luke 18:1 – “that men always ought to pray and not lose heart.”

  • Hebrews 7:25 – Jesus Himself “always lives to make intercession” for us—our ultimate model.

These passages call for righteous, persevering, Spirit-led intercessors who love the saints and carefully guard what is entrusted to them.

GUIDELINES

  • Every request is held in confidence and respect.

  • Each intercessor remains free to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit in prayer and spiritual warfare.

PRACTICAL APPLICATION

Please remember: do not pray according to what you think, but according to what you hear from the Holy Spirit. This requires faith—believe that you hear God.

Praying for others will always involve listening. The Lord may give you a word of knowledge, a word of wisdom, or even a prophetic word for the person. Of course, all prayer requests must be kept strictly confidential.

As stated earlier, the only qualifications for participating are a sincere desire to glorify Jesus in all things and a commitment to listen and obey without any attempt at self-promotion.
